Deputy Shift Manager

  • Salary: £31,914 - £34,815 [Negotiable with experience]

  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time: 173 Hrs

  • Working Pattern: Shift - 2 on 4 off [07:30 - 23:00] (Plus on calls and sleep ins as required)

Physis Care are excited to expand our residential offering with the development of a new residential ‘place of safety’ home in Newport, Shropshire. The home will provide emergency, same day placements, for up to two young people, aged between 11-18 years who are experiencing extreme trauma and are at high risk of further exploitation, by remaining in their current communities.

We are looking for a Deputy Manager to support the registered manger in moving the property from strength to strength, working closely with the development team to offer advice and guidance, develop policies and procedures, and to create a home that enables our young people to express their character and feel safe.

The Role:

  • To know, understand, implement, and model the Physis Model of Therapeutic Care to provide a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social, and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.

  • To work under the direction of the Registered Manager (RM) to ensure Physis service delivery objectives are met, and to deputise for him/her as and when required.

  • To be the responsible decision maker and provide leadership and management of all aspects of the Registered Children’s home ensuring all Regulations and Policies are met, in the absence of the RM.

  • To be a caregiver to young people ensuring their daily needs are met and their individual plans for health, education, safety, and personal development are delivered.

  • At all times to promote the safeguarding and welfare of the children.

  • To act as an ambassador for the organisation and ensure effective partnership working within the organisation and with external agencies.

Experience and qualifications you will have:

  • Level 3 QCF Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential (Level 5 preferred).

  • Manual Driver’s licence - Use of onsite vehicles.

  • Experience of working in a senior care/ management position with young people, with complex needs within a residential setting – Minimum 2 years

  • Effective characteristics and personality to handle challenging situations.

  • Ability to place young people at the centre of all practice and decision making.
